As an employee or leader, it’s easy to want to be right. Kathy challenges her team to take ownership. It’s been many years since I’ve worked with Kathy, and I continue to hear, “So, what do you need to do about that? When I first heard those eight words, I felt frustration and just wanted to be right, even if it was only intermittently. Now, I know the true meaning and power of those eight words and choose to live by them. I can choose to be right or I can choose to make the right decisions to rectify a situation to move my team forward. I know I have the power to control my actions and behaviors and I can make a difference and recognize that vindication rarely produces optimum results.
